Who is Albany?
Albany is the stage name of Alba Casas, born in Girona (Catalonia) in 1998 and raised in Granada, in southern Spain. She started writing songs in 2015 and posting them on YouTube, and Spanish media went on to call her the "sad" voice of Spanish trap. She played Primavera Sound in 2019, one of Europe's biggest music festivals.
She rejects the trap label herself and calls what she does "just music". Her catalogue mixes sad trap, romantic reggaeton and R&B, with nods to flamenco, soul and pop rock.

If you like…
…Spanish-language urban music in the vein of La Zowi or Yung Beef, or the emotional, lo-fi side of trap that the TeamSESH collective popularised, Albany is a natural next listen. Lyrics are in Spanish; the feeling translates on its own.
